The story of Darshan Saraf - engineer, operator, and founder of Tarini Express Laundry.
I'm Darshan Saraf. I trained as a Production Engineer at Nagpur University and spent the early part of my career inside India's largest iron and steel companies - Visa Steel, Bhushan Steel and Power, and finally Uttam Galva Metallics, where I rose to become their youngest Assistant General Manager.
In those plants I learned what scale truly means - running heavy machinery, leading large teams, implementing IMS, TPM and 5S certifications, and being on-call when a critical line went down. I learned to respect hygiene, discipline, and uptime as non-negotiables.
When I returned to Wardha, I saw a gap nobody else was solving. Hospitals were struggling with infection-controlled linen. Hotels couldn't get consistent finish at scale. Wedding venues needed partners who could absorb sudden volume surges without dropping quality. The local market was full of small washermen - but India's institutions needed an industrial-grade partner.
So I built one. Tarini Express Laundry is the same engineering discipline I lived in steel - applied to laundry. High-capacity machines. Documented hygiene protocols. Trained shifts. On-time delivery. And contracts written to the standards a hospital administrator, a hotel general manager, or a government tender committee would expect.
We are just getting started. The next chapter is railways and government - and from there, India.
